Traveling With Kids

Image
As a family of four we like to take our kids everywhere...let me rephrase that..we take our kids almost everywhere. When we can we take the Fur Babies too! Sometimes a getaway without the kids is needed and makes for an easy vacation. Let's be serious, it's rare. Having kids and traveling can be a bit hectic but it can also be fun. After a few attempts with a lot of trial and error I think we've managed to "figure it out". The must have's for a easy vacation: (pictures for reference) DVD player  We found ours at Walmart. Decently priced and came with 2 screens and a handy remote for the "Mom I can't find the button" or "Dad it's not working" moments. We're not huge fans of kids always having electronic devices but why make road trips harder than they have to be? We have a CD case (I know soooo 90's) filled with DVD's that stays up front with the adults. We usually let Lily pick her movie first unless Onyx is NO...

Point Mugu camp trip

Image
This was the trip that started our obsession with traveling. We wanted to find a place to camp right on the beach for Amber's birthday. After looking for places up and down the coast of California, we came across a primitive campground in Point Mugu. We got lucky booking a site a month out when it is ideal to book most camp sites 6 months in advance. We set out a day earlier than planned, of course, from Phoenix and the drive took us about 7 hours to get to Huntington Beach. The first night we stayed at a Best Western (our reservations for Point Mugu were for the following day). That night we found an awesome restaurant called The Lazy Dog, the food was great and it was pet friendly. We had our dog Penny with us so she got her own plate of goodies ordered off the "Dog Menu". When we woke up the next morning we took penny to Huntington Dog Beach where she had a blast. All the dogs were in heaven on that beach!! I'll never forget penny getting too close to a wave th...

Area family Mexico trip

It all started like most of our trips, spurr of the moment. We wanted to get the family out of the house for Labor Day weekend. We looked up every campsite in Arizona and California. Due to the last second planning there were no vacancies ANYWHERE.  I remember one of my co-workers talking about his Mexico trip that he took two weeks prior. I looked into resorts and "AirBnB" in Puerto Peñasco a.k.a Rocky Point. We were working with a low budget, 30 to 100 dollars a night. Finding very few places with vacancies we decided to head down and test our luck. After  hours of driving from resorts to hotels looking for vacancies my fiance found a resort just north of Puerto Peñasco, Laguna Shores Resort  https://www.lagunashoresresort.com/ . It's a beautiful little resort nestled in Choya Bay...kind of off the beaten path and party scene of rocky point. From the highway it's a 2 Mile Drive to the water front resort, from the laguna shores private gated entrance. They have a ...
